Through Hyundai Hope on Wheels®, Hyundai Motor America and Hyundai dealers across the United States help fund pediatric cancer research, support children and families, and raise awareness about childhood cancer. With every new Hyundai vehicle sold, a donation is made to Hyundai Hope on Wheels to help support this important mission.
28 Years of Driving Hope
Hyundai Hope on Wheels began in 1998 with a powerful goal: help fund research that can lead to better treatments and ultimately cures for childhood cancer.
What began as a grassroots effort has grown into one of the largest nonprofit efforts supporting pediatric cancer research in the United States. In 2026, Hyundai Hope on Wheels reached more than $303 million in lifetime giving.
That funding has supported more than 1,600 childhood cancer research grants at over 175 hospitals and research institutions, helping doctors and researchers pursue new treatments and improve care for children facing cancer.
And the Mission Continues
More than a number, this represents decades of support for researchers, hospitals, children and families working toward a future without childhood cancer.
Every New Hyundai Helps
One of the things that makes Hyundai Hope on Wheels unique is the role Hyundai dealers and their customers play in supporting the program.
Hyundai's nationwide dealer network provides significant support for the organization, and a donation is made with every new Hyundai vehicle sold.
That means when a customer chooses a new Hyundai at Clark Hyundai, that purchase becomes part of a much larger nationwide effort to support pediatric cancer research.
From a new SANTA FE or PALISADE to a TUCSON, KONA, ELANTRA or another Hyundai model, thousands of individual vehicle purchases help generate funding for researchers searching for better ways to treat childhood cancer.
Where Does Hyundai Hope on Wheels Funding Go?
Hyundai Hope on Wheels goes beyond raising awareness. A major part of its mission is putting funding behind promising pediatric cancer research and programs that support patients and families.
Hyundai Scholar Hope Grant
$400,000Two-year grants supporting researchers conducting translational research and working directly with pediatric cancer patients.
Hyundai Young Investigator Grant
$300,000Two-year grants supporting principal investigators researching the biology and treatment of childhood cancer.
Hyundai Impact Grant
$100,000Funding for innovative pediatric cancer research and programs supporting pediatric oncology departments, patients and families.
Hyundai Hope on Wheels has also expanded its grant programs to support additional promising research, including Bridge2K grants and million-dollar Hyundai Quantum Grants.
The Handprints That Represent Hope
Perhaps the most recognizable symbol of Hyundai Hope on Wheels isn't a dollar sign. It's a child's handprint.
During the organization's signature Handprint Ceremonies, children affected by cancer place colorful painted handprints on Hyundai vehicles. Those handprints have become a powerful symbol of the children, families, doctors and researchers at the heart of the program.
Each handprint represents a story. Each one is a reminder of why pediatric cancer research matters. Together, they represent courage, progress and hope.
Research Is Creating More Hope
There has been meaningful progress in the fight against childhood cancer. Hyundai Hope on Wheels reports that more than 85% of children diagnosed with cancer are surviving the disease.
But the work isn't finished. Researchers continue searching for better treatments for difficult-to-treat cancers while also working to reduce treatment side effects and improve the long-term quality of life for survivors.
Hyundai Hope on Wheels funding also supports initiatives focused on survivorship, patient assistance, education and resources for children and their families.
